The Simulation window is used to simulate circuits. This
window appears when you select Simulation Window from the View Menu, or when you click on the
button on the main tool bar. For more sophisticated
debugging, use the Driver Window.
The Simulation Window allows you to select a circuit for simulation, supply input vectors to the selected circuit, and to view the simulation results. The simulation window contains the following items.
| Circuit List | This control is a combination box that displays all circuits that currently appear in text editor windows. Click on the button to the right of the box to see the list of available circuits. If the list is too large, a scroll bar will appear to the right of the list. This scroll bar can be used to display items which are not currently visible. |
| Input Vector | Type an input vector into this box and press Enter. The format for input vectors is a list of values separated by commas. There should be one value for each primary input of the circuit. If a primary input is a bus, the input value must be specified in hexadecimal. If a circuit has three inputs, a four bit bus, an eight bit bus, and a single-bit input, an example of an input vector would be: 7,c8,1 The circuit will be compiled as necessary. |
| Clear Trace | Click this button to erase the Results display. |
| Results | This box displays the input vector followed by the simulation results. The input vector is preceded by the characters I>, while the result is preceded by the vector number and the > character. |
