Sort Animation Template

Using the Template     ActiveX Control Properties, Methods, and Events.

The sort animation template is a file that when added to the proper directory in the C++ system, will allow you to create sort animation projects. The sort animation template automatically creates a new copy of the SortAnimator files and adds them to your project.

Go to page http://cs.baylor.edu/~maurer/vdal/sorttools, and click on "Download SortTemplate.awx", to download the Sort Animation Template. Once downloaded, this file must be placed in your C++ template directory. Where is this, you say? On my system, you place the file in the following directory.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\MSDev98\Template

The directory will definitely be named "Template", but there are many template directories under Microsoft Visual Studio. If the first one you try doesn't work, try a different one.

"How will I know it worked?" Do the following.

In Visual Studio, start the process of creating a new project. On the "New" dialog box, click on the "Projects" tab (if it isn't already displayed.)

In the project-type window you should see a new type: "Sort Animation Template". If you see this, it worked, if you don't, it didn't. If it didn't work, it means you have the sorttemplate.awx file in the wrong directory. Move it to the correct directory and that will fix the problem. Close visual studio and restart it after moving the awx file. Also check to see if you have at least the professional version of C++. There were some comments about "professional and enterprise versions only" in the documentation for creating the awx file. I don't know if these comments apply equally well to using the file.

Create a project of this type, and compile it. You should get an ActiveX control that is functionally equivalent to the InsertSort.ocx ActiveX control.
